Matching jewellery to your neckline
3 min read
Round and U necks
These leave space on the chest, so a necklace that follows the curve works well: a short necklace, a choker or a layered chain. Keep earrings medium in size if the necklace is heavy.
V necks
A pendant or a necklace that comes to a point mirrors the V and looks balanced. A choker also works because it sits well above the neckline. Avoid a round necklace that ends exactly where the V begins.
Boat and high necks
These cover the collarbone, so skip the necklace or wear a long one that falls well below the neckline. Let the earrings do the work: chandbalis, jhumkas or long drops suit these necklines especially well.
Heavily embroidered necklines
If the blouse or kurta already has embroidery around the neck, a necklace will compete with it. Choose statement earrings, a maang tikka or bangles instead.
One focus at a time
A simple rule: choose one piece to stand out and keep the rest quiet. Heavy earrings with a bare neck, or a statement necklace with small studs, almost always looks better than everything at once.
