How to store and care for a silk saree
3 min read
After wearing
Air the saree in shade for a few hours before putting it away. Do not spray perfume directly on silk or zari, because it can leave stains and dull the metal thread.
Cleaning
Dry clean silk sarees, especially the first few times. If a small stain appears, dab it with cold water and a soft cloth; do not rub. Never wring silk.
Storing
Wrap each saree in a cotton or muslin cloth, not plastic, so the fabric can breathe. Refold it along different lines every few months so the creases do not weaken the silk, and keep it away from direct sunlight.
